hotels, restaurants and cafés

Experiencing a hotel or a restaurant is closely tied to the experience of light. With light, the moods and atmospheres of all areas, rooms and facilities can be tailor-made to support specific experiences, unique to the place. From the welcoming atmosphere of receptions areas to the intimate mood of quiet night bars.
Light can enable a hotel or a restaurant to stand out and underline its specific personality. It can add to the functionality of all areas, from kitchens to concierges. And it can make a visitor feel at home - even if he is far away from his place of residence.
Hotel Nyhavn 71

In partnership with Bente Lange Architects, tuxen design developed the comprehensive lighting project and played a significant role in the entire refurbishment.

Restaurants and cafés
Below are a few examples of our work with restaurants and cafés.
In each case the lighting specifically underlines the identity of each place as well as contributing to the functionality and the required atmosphere.

Café DFU. This café is situated in the basement. What appears to be skylight holes are really large lamps, designed to give the impression of daylight.

Restaurant Lumskebugten. A simple, flexible solution: The lamps can be repositioned anywhere on the brass stick above the table.

Café Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. With the use of large metal rings to mount the glass pendants. the electricity cords can be limited to a minimum, thereby avoiding damage to this fine protected building.
