interior design and restoration projects

tuxen design is often asked to participate in projects that include either restoration of older properties, interior design - or both. Here are some examples. Many of these projects have been carried out in close collaboration with the renowned Architect and restoration expert, Bente Lange.
Carlsberg’s Historic Buildings: The Villa, the Conservatory, the Pompeji Hall
The historic buildings of Carlsberg in Copenhagen have been carefully restored and brought up-to-date through an extensive and ambitious project involving leading Danish Architects and Designers: Peder Elgaard Architecture (restoration), Kristine Jensen Architects (landscape design), Art Expert Cathrine Raben Davidsen and tuxen design (lighting, interior design and design of the Carlsberg beer bar).

The villa's large meeting room has been carefully restored . Here again, Tuxen Design's wireless table lamps blend in perfectly with the interior and feel of the room.
In the Pompeji Hall, the lighting was completely redesigned and carefully added to this exquisite piece of architecture. The lamps' "tulip-shaped" glass serve as a theme for the lighting fixtures and have been used again and again throughout the buildings.

The beer bar in the conservatory has been completely designed by Tuxen Design. This bar, serving Carlsberg's famous beer - known as "probably the best beer in the world" - aims to reflect the extreme care, craftmanship and quality consciousness so deeply rooted in Carlsberg.
The bar blends in with the interior so that important architectural details are celebrated and brought together with the new design additions.
The bar front is made from Carlsberg's plastic beer anchors, granulated, pressed into shape and and decorated with brass details. It almost appears like a "hidden treasure" between the green plants of the conservatory.

The wireless "tulip" lamps are in use a number of places in the buildings.

The small wall-mounted bar tables incorporate the same materials and decorative elements as the bar.
The Carlsberg Foundation
The Carlsberg Foundation's headquarters in Copenhagen have undergone extensive restoration work. tuxen design has participated in many different areas. Below is a selection of these interior design and restoration projects,

The Danish Institute in Rome
The Danish Institute in Rome underwent an extensive restoration under the leadership of Bente Lange. In addition to participating in the organization of the restoration work, tuxen design had the main responsibility for the lighting and performed a number of interior design tasks, some of which are shown here.

Den Frie
In close collaboration with Architect Bente Lange, tuxen design, in addition to the lighting, developed a number of interiors for Den Fries' new multi-functional basement. The projects included furnishing, coloring, interior design of the café, library, workshop area and much more.
