lamps

All lamps are designed with a specific purpose in mind. To guide you safely down a dark alley. To make it possible to read a bed time story to you children. To bring a sense of togetherness around the dinner table. To pinpoint a special feature in a room … and much, much more. Therefore, there is no such thing as “the eternal lamp”. Lamps are as different as the purposes they serve.

Below are a few examples …

Safir

This is the first lamp designed by Marianne Tuxen who as a young design student at the Royal Danish Academy won a competition for a new bathroom lamp, commissioned by Louis Poulsen A/S.

Safir is designed with two specific purposes in mind: To generally illuminate the bathroom and to give a both pleasant and precise light the closer you move towards the lamp. This is a great advantage when putting on make-up, combing etc. in front of a mirror.

Baret

Baret was designed for Louis Poulsen A/S as a series of lamps to fit several different purposes. Using the oval shape throughout this family of lamps, Baret is both a coherent series as well as a number of individual lamps, each with their own strong product identity.

Grape

Grape is specifically designed for the bar in the famous Palace Hotel in Copenhagen’s town square.

The design incorporates little glass bowls that are held in place by brass rings in a way that reminds us of how we hold our wine or cocktail glasses.

Adding modernity and obvious product quality to an often overseen group of lamps, Discos, produced by Lehner Werk Metal in Germany, is a street light that will fit well into almost any environment.
